My Story
If you'd told me 10 years ago that I was going to become a yoga teacher, I'd have thought you were crazy! Growing up, I was never strong or flexible, and I was always the last person picked in gym class. Then as a teenager, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition that I was convinced would keep me from ever being active or having a healthy body.
It wasn't until my late 20s that I wandered into a yoga class with the vaguely curious thought that it might help me work on my flexibility - and maybe even reduce my constant aches and pains. While it was by no means love at first sight, I found over the next few years that yoga was something I kept coming back to. I loved how it made me feel physically, I loved the sense of calm it brought me, and I LOVED that it was helping me reshape my identity from someone who never, ever ever worked out to someone who was capable of so much more than I'd thought! Nowadays, I seldom go a day without at least a short practice: it's my self-care ritual, daily workout, and bucket list all in one!
Given my own path, there's nothing I love more than having a student learn what they're capable of, regardless of any painful conditions or experience level. I certified as a yoga teacher in 2016, and since then I've been obsessed with mixing yoga with a variety of other techniques (including mobility and self-massage) to help my students move better and feel better, in body and mind.
Whoever you are, and whatever you're bringing with you onto the mat, please know that you are welcome here and that you too can do so much more than you think. I hope I can help show you how.
